The Essentials of Diagnostics: Understanding Reimbursement

Diagnostics represent the foundation of a successful healthcare system, providing the critical information physicians need to make the best decisions for a patient’s care.  But how are manufacturers, laboratories and physicians compensated when diagnostic tests are used?  DxInsights is pleased to host members of HillCo HEALTH as they provide an overview of public and private payer reimbursement of diagnostic tests in the U.S.  This one hour presentation will help you better understand the role CMS and its Medicare Administrative contractors (MACs) play in setting pricing in both the public and private payer arenas and the origin and importance of CPT Coding, including “cross-walking” and “gap fill” price setting methods and the use of “code stacking.”  HillCo presenters will also provide their insight into how the landscape is currently undergoing dramatic change, including the introduction of new AMA-developed codes and the future of the CMS’ MolDx program.

HillCo HEALTH was founded by Marc Samuels in 2000, initially to help its clients triage complex reimbursement issues.  HillCo now leverages those same skills proactively to help its clients map out the optimal strategy from the onset.   This has become increasingly important as the healthcare world evolves from a cost plus to pay for value orientation.  The company’s approach has been recognized by thought leaders and industry observers across the healthcare sector and is represented in its client base of many of the most successful global health care companies.
