About Summer of Startups

Arizona is well-known for its summers and the ‘dry heat’. But our state is more than pool time and good tans. Our startup and business scene works hard year-round to innovate and build community. Arizona Summer of Startups highlights entrepreneurial and startup programming to increase awareness of intellectual resources within the state, as well as challenge individuals to become involved with their local startup community.  Visit the AZSOS website at http://www.arizonasummerofstartups.com/ to learn about all the partners and programming. We are following AZ Science Festival excellent example this past February with a statewide calendar segmented by regions and heavily pushed in the media. Each partner will setup and run their own programs – AZSOS will simply act as the promotional engine and collector of information.  If you are interested in becoming a partner or hosting an event in Tucson, email Aaron Eden (aaron@gangplankhq.com) or Justin Williams (justin@startuptucson.com).
About Borderlands Brewery

Borderlands Brewing Company was started in 2010 by two close friends, Michael Mallozzi and Myles Stone.  Both Mike and Myles have been avid brewers for many years, but they started Borderlands after being involved in careers far outside of the brewing industry. Mike and Myles met Blake Collins shortly after starting the Borderlands Brewing Company. Blake is one of Tucson’s most respected homebrewers, and also has a wealth of professional brewing experience. Blake acted as an unofficial adviser to the brewery for several months before Mike and Myles asked him to join Borderlands as the head brewer (it wasn’t a long conversation).  Borderlands is located in Tucson Warehouse Arts District in a building that was built in the early 1900s, and is the former home of Tooley and Sons Produce Company.  Borderlands Brewing Company strives to respect the environment that supports it by conserving water and energy in its production process, reducing and recycling materials, and producing the highest quality beer made from all natural ingredients.
