Dr. Jean McLain, University of Arizona, Associate Director, Water & Resources Research Center

Biography:
Dr. Jean E. McLain is the Associate Director of the University of Arizona Water Resources Research Center and an Associate Research Scientist at the Water Resources Research Center and the Department of Soil, Water and Environmental Science.

With a strong focus on environmental microbiology, Jean has directed numerous research projects focused on establishing the human health and environmental risks of using reclaimed municipal wastewater for irrigation. She has also managed research studies examining potential climate change impacts on microbiological nutrient cycling in Southwestern soils. Jean received her doctorate from Duke University in Microbial Ecology after earning a Master’s Degree in Forest Science from Yale University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Forestry from the University of Vermont.
